AAO Friends Party (November): How to Prepare for Exams and Papers?

Date: November 14, 2018 (Wednesday)

Time: 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm

Venue: Academic Advising Office, Room 212, Knowles Building

Main Theme: Senior students from different programmes will be there to share with you their tips on preparing for exams and final assignments (AND how to relax) in a very casual atmosphere.

Time flies! The Reading Week is already over. It is now a good time to review your progress with your Faculty Academic Adviser (FAA) and get ready for your forthcoming exams in December. To ensure that you are doing well with your studies and that you are also aware of the academic choices available to you under the curriculum, the University requires all of you in Year 1 to meet with your FAA in each semester. Please contact and meet with him / her at your earliest convenience. If you do not have the contact information of your FAA, please click HERE. Workshop: Understanding Research Postgraduate Studies
Date: 8 November 2018 (Thursday)
Time: 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm
Venue: JLG 03, James Hsioung Lee Science Building, Main Campus

Who is it for?

All undergraduates (especially senior year students) who are interested in RPg studies in future

What is it about?

As a follow-up to the Information Session given by the Graduate School in October, this workshop aims at enhancing students’ understanding of research postgraduate (RPg) study programmes. Experienced RPg supervisors will be there to share with you their expectations of applicants and research students. Current MPhil and PhD students from different disciplines will also be there to share their first-hand application and study experiences in small groups.

Who is it for?

All undergraduates who are interested in learning more about postgraduate education

What is it about?

This workshop aims at introducing to students different postgraduate study opportunities and how to prepare themselves for the higher academic goal. The guest speaker will talk about postgraduate study opportunities at HKU and beyond. Different types of study programmes will be introduced with their key differences highlighted. Participants will be guided to reflect on the various factors they should consider in drawing their academic plans and make appropriate preparation. AAO and the guest speaker will take questions from the participants in the Q&A session.

If yes, don’t forget to join the Graduate School’s MPhil and PhD Information Session 2018 which will be held tomorrow (Oct 12) from 6 pm to 7 pm at the Wang Gungwu Lecture Hall. To help interested students gain a deeper understanding of research degree programmes and make an informed decision, AAO is offering a special workshop on Research Postgraduate Studies in early November.
