The University of Hong Kong recognises the value and importance of academic advising and has in place a comprehensive University-wide Academic Advising System to support undergraduate students to achieve their academic and personal goals.
The Academic Advising and Scholarships Office (AASO) comprises the Academic Advising Team and the Scholarships Team. The mission of the Academic Advising Team is to promote the academic success and development of students. Quality and personal service is offered to support students in navigating their university education and seeking guidance from different academic advisers and the campus network along their learning journey.
Our Academic Advising Team also plays a key role in the implementation of advising policies and the development of the University-wide Academic Advising System. Our objective is to ensure smooth running of the system, efficient support to the Faculties and provision of advising resources to professors and teaching staff who serve as academic advisers. In addition, the Team provides administrative support to the University Academic Advising & First Year Experience Committee which oversees the overall academic advising strategies for undergraduate students.
Our Scholarships Team, on the other hand, serves as a one-stop platform to help administer merit-based scholarships, promote scholarship opportunities to students and liaise with external and internal parties. The Team is dedicated to providing support to students seeking scholarships and awards which recognise their academic achievement, community service, leadership potential and other outstanding qualities.
To render all-round support to students at HKU, AASO works closely with various units on campus including CEDARS, halls of residence and Colleges, Common Core Curriculum Office and International Affairs Office.
