Major Minor Week 2019 (Sign Up TODAY)

Dear Students,

Hope everything goes well with your add/ drop!

Glad to tell you that about 200 students have already joined our opening talk and the Faculty-based sharing session of Arts, Business and Engineering in the past few days. Thank you very much indeed for your support! Please note that the sharing sessions of Science, Social Sciences, Architecture, Education and Medicine will be held next week. If you are interested in the majors/minors they offer, sign up now!

Senior students studying various majors/ minors and office staff from these Faculties will be there to give you practical advice. AAO Advisers will also be around to help you make study plan and show you different academic planning tools.

Who is it for?

For all students, especially those from Year 1 and 2

What is it about?

Jointly delivered by AAO and CEDARS (Careers and Placement), this talk will help you understand the relationship between your studies and career, and how to make suitable study decisions. Some of the topics to be covered include:

  • Steps to make major minor selection
  • Points to consider when making study and career choices
  • Graduate employment statistics, career prospects, employer expectations, career and internship preparation
  • Demonstration of the “What-If” system in SIS for checking study loads if changing majors/ minors
  • Resources and support services offered by AAO and CEDARS (Careers and Placement)

This opening talk is a part of the Major Minor Week 2019 which is to be held from January 16 to January 23. In every late afternoon (4:30 – 6 pm) of this week, AAO will invite senior students and Faculty office staff from different Faculties to our office (KB212). Don’t miss this chance to get some practical advice on your major minor selection. AAO Advisers will be around too to offer personal guidance and show you different academic planning tools. Dear Students,

Choosing a major and / or a minor is no doubt one of the important academic decisions you make in your university education. With the Add / Drop period of the second semester coming soon, it is time for actions. If you are a first-year student, it is timely to explore the wide spectrum of options open to you and select courses of your potential major/minor. If you are a non-final year student, you should also decide and declare your major / minor for a smooth progression in your studies.

Organized by AAO, the “Major Minor Week” provides a platform for you to explore your major minor options effectively. During the week-long event, you can learn more by attending talk, meeting senior students, speaking to the Faculty staff and getting personal advice from AAO advisers.

Major Minor Week 2019: January 16 – 23, 2019

Choosing a major and / or a minor is no doubt one of the important academic decisions you make in your university education. Organized by AAO, the “Major Minor Week” provides a platform for you to explore your major minor options effectively. During the week-long event, you can learn more by attending talk, meeting senior students from your interested Faculties, speaking to the Faculty staff on specific requirements of your interested subjects and getting personal advice from AAO advisers to plan your studies.

With a better understanding of different major and minor subjects, you can declare (or change) your major minor selection in SIS during the semester 2 ADD/DROP period, or change your course enrolment if you wish to get a taste of a potential major or minor.
