Let’s Hear What Your Seniors and Careers Advisers Say Before You Choose Your Major/ Minor (Jan 17 and 18)

Dear Students,
Happy second semester! The Add / Drop period is from today (January 15) to January 29, 2018. It is the time for major/minor declaration as well as a chance to enroll for courses of your potential majors. Before you make up your mind, do you want to hear how your seniors chose their major /minor? Is career prospects also one of your concerns? If yes, these two talks are for you:–


Pre-Fair Peer Sharing: How Senior Students Chose Their Major / Minor

Date: January 17, 2018 (Wednesday)
Time: 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm
Venue: University Bookstore, Chi Wah Learning Commons, Centennial Campus

What is it about?

In this highly interactive session, a panel of senior students with different academic backgrounds will share with you their stories — how they selected their major/minor, what they studied, and the challenges they faced in the programmes. The moderator and sharing students will take questions from the audience. At the end of the session, participants will be able to draw up a list of critical questions for consultation with the advisers from Home and non-Home Faculties, Careers & Placement and AAO at the Major and Minor Fair on the following day (Jan 18, Thursday).

“Your Studies and Career: What to Consider” (Jan 18)

Date: January 18, 2018 (Thursday)
Time: 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm
Venue: University Bookstore, Chi Wah Learning Commons, Centennial Campus

What is it about?

This talk will help you understand the relationship between studies and career. Some of the topics include: points to consider when making study and career choices, graduate employment statistics, career preparation during your studies and resources and support offered by CEDARS (Careers and Placement). Experienced academic adviser and careers adviser will address common issues related to studies and career plans, and take questions from the audience.
