Workshop Highlights

To cater for the need of potential student advisers who were not able to attend the Academic Advising Training Workshop in June 2011, the Academic Advising Office (AAO) and the Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS) organized a second training workshop for student advisers on August 19, 2011.

The workshop was hosted by Ms Katherine Wan, Head of Academic Advising Office and Dr. Eugenie Leung, Director of Counselling and Person Enrichment.

Workshop Highlights

  • 40 students from various faculties attended the Academic Advising Training Workshop
  • Topics covered include:
    • Structure of the University-wide Academic Advising System
    • Difference between Academic Advising and Counselling
    • What is Peer Advising
    • Roles of Student Advisers
    • Basic skills and tips for Student Advisers
  • Conducted in an interactive mode with discussion and case studies which were very well-received by the participants
